Vikramaditya Singh Emphasises Grassroots Governance and Development in Himachal
Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Minister Vikramaditya Singh highlighted the importance of strengthening grassroots democracy while addressing newly elected Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) representatives during a two-day programme in Himachal Pradesh. He said the strength of the state’s democratic system lies in maintaining direct communication with elected representatives at all levels, including Panchayat Samiti members, Gram Panchayat heads, and Zila Parishad members, regardless of political affiliation.
He emphasised that development should rise above party politics, stating that collaboration between government and local representatives is essential for effective implementation of welfare and infrastructure projects. Singh noted that the programme was designed to foster coordination and ensure smoother execution of development initiatives at the village level.
Welcoming the newly elected representatives, including a significant number of young leaders, he expressed confidence that they would play an important role in driving local development. He assured full government support to strengthen their functioning and improve governance outcomes at the grassroots.
He further announced plans to personally visit every Panchayat to review ongoing projects, accelerate development work, and address local issues more effectively, reinforcing the government’s commitment to decentralised governance and responsive administration.
