Athawale Targets Congress Over Lalit Modi’s IPL Claims
Mumbai: Reacting to remarks made by Lalit Modi regarding the IPL Kochi franchise process and his denial of being a fugitive, Union Minister Ramdas Athawale launched a sharp attack on the Congress party. He stated that Lalit Modi had a close association with the IPL and, in his recent statement, alleged that several Congress leaders had exerted pressure on him to purchase an IPL team. Questioning Rahul Gandhi, Athawale said that while criticism is often directed at the current government over IPL-related matters, it was members of the Congress party who allegedly misled, pressured, and even attempted to blackmail Lalit Modi. He further remarked that with such claims now coming to light and Congress leaders being named, Rahul Gandhi should avoid making baseless or erratic statements, asserting that these developments have exposed the party’s role in the controversy.
