Jaishankar Welcomes UK Foreign Secretary, Discusses Trade and Global Issues
New Delhi: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar stated that he was delighted to welcome UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper on her first official visit to India. In a post shared on social media, Jaishankar highlighted that both sides reviewed ongoing progress in bilateral cooperation across multiple key sectors, including trade, technology, supply chain resilience, defence, climate action, education, and people-to-people ties.
He further noted that the discussions also explored emerging opportunities in strategic and future-focused areas such as clean energy, artificial intelligence (AI), and critical minerals, reflecting the growing scope of India–UK collaboration in advanced and sustainable technologies.
In addition, the two leaders exchanged views on major global developments, including the ongoing situation in Ukraine, issues in West Asia, and evolving dynamics in the Indo-Pacific region. The engagement underscores continued efforts by India and the United Kingdom to deepen their strategic partnership and expand cooperation in both traditional and emerging areas of global importance.
