In a shocking case of suspected honour killing, a 24-year-old man was shot dead in broad daylight outside a UP Police recruitment examination centre at Gochar Inter College in the Rampur Maniharan area of Saharanpur. The victim, identified as Shiv Kumar, a well-educated post-graduate and law degree holder from Shamli district, had traveled to the venue to drop off his wife, Akanksha, for her recruitment test. An argument erupted when Manjeet tried to force Akanksha to return home with him. When Shiv Kumar intervened to protect his wife, Manjeet allegedly pulled out a country-made pistol and shot Kumar in the head at point-blank range before fleeing the scene.
