PM Modi Hails Yogasana Championship as Global Sports Milestone
Ahmedabad: As the World Yogasana Championship commenced in Ahmedabad, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his message, described the event as a significant addition to the global sporting legacy. He welcomed athletes from around the world to India and extended his best wishes, stating that the championship marks a proud moment for the nation. Highlighting Ahmedabad’s status as a UNESCO World Heritage City, he noted that hosting such an international event in this historic city adds to its global prominence. The Prime Minister also referred to the upcoming International Day of Yoga, emphasizing that yoga celebrations will be held across many countries, including India. He remarked that the championship, being held ahead of the global yoga day, offers a “double dose” of sports and wellness, reinforcing India’s leadership in promoting yoga and holistic health on the world stage.
