Hoax Bomb Threat Email Triggers Security Sweep at MCD Headquarters
Delhi: A threatening email sent to the official email ID of the MCD Mayor triggered a major security response in the national capital, prompting immediate action by the police and emergency units. Acting swiftly, Delhi Police, along with Bomb Disposal and Dog Squads, conducted a comprehensive anti-sabotage check at the Dr. SP Mukherjee Civic Centre and its surrounding premises.
The entire complex—including offices, common areas, and parking spaces—was thoroughly searched as part of standard security protocol. Officials confirmed that no suspicious or explosive materials were found during the operation, and the premises were subsequently declared safe.
Authorities have put appropriate security measures in place and instructed personnel to maintain heightened vigilance. According to police sources, the threatening communication appears to be a hoax intended to create unnecessary panic. An investigation is currently underway, including a technical analysis to trace the origin of the email.
Delhi Police has urged the public not to panic and to rely only on verified official information as the situation remains under control.
