Congress Downplays DMK Absence and Outlines Future Expansion
Addressing the absence of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) from the recent INDIA alliance meeting in Delhi, Congress Member of Parliament Syed Naseer Hussain firmly downplayed any suggestions of a major rift. He emphasized that the DMK remains a steadfast and integral part of the opposition coalition, framing their current absence as a temporary reaction to minor, post-election seat adjustments. Expressing strong confidence in the endurance of the partnership, Hussain noted that any lingering friction would be resolved smoothly, and he fully expects the Tamil Nadu-based party to return to the collective fold for subsequent gatherings.
Turning his attention to the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), Hussain clarified the party’s current standing relative to the national alliance. Because the TVK is not an active component of the INDIA bloc at this juncture, they were naturally omitted from the invitation list for the Delhi session. However, the Congress leader maintained an open-door policy regarding the newly formed political entity. He indicated that as the coalition continues to evolve, the TVK would be warmly integrated into the alliance’s future strategy and would participate in upcoming high-level meetings once formal entry protocols are finalized.
