Chandrababu Naidu Reviews Visakhapatnam Steel Plant Tragedy and Directs Relief
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu held an emergency review meeting to assess the situation following a devastating industrial accident at the Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) facility, corporate entity of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant. During the high-level briefing with Chief Secretary Sai Prasad, senior administrative officials, and Visakhapatnam District Collector M. Abhishikth Kishore, the Chief Minister was updated on the scale of the disaster, which claimed multiple lives after a ladle carrying molten metal exploded and triggered a massive fire. The District Collector informed the Chief Minister that eight workers had tragically lost their lives, while six others sustained severe burn injuries, with at least two currently fighting for survival in critical condition.
Expressing deep shock and distress over the loss of lives, Naidu ordered all government departments to maintain seamless coordination and expedite multi-agency relief operations at the site. He strictly instructed local authorities to ensure that the highest standard of corporate medical care is extended to all the injured personnel currently undergoing treatment at city hospitals. Highlighting that industrial safety must remain an uncompromised priority, the Chief Minister also reached out to Union Steel Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy to discuss immediate federal assistance, while directing state machinery and local party cadres to provide comprehensive, unwavering support to the grieving families during this hour of tragedy.
