Lucknow Police Apprehend Assailant After Attempted Assault on Exam Aspirants
Two young girls from Lakhimpur district who were traveling to an examination center survived a harrowing ordeal after an auto-rickshaw driver diverted his vehicle into a secluded area to harass and assault them. Demonstrating immense courage, the girls raised a loud alarm, forcing the perpetrator to panic and flee the scene. Following the incident, the Lucknow police immediately intervened, ensuring the young women were safely escorted to their examination center so they could complete their tests without further disruption.
A swift police investigation using extensive CCTV footage successfully identified the attacker as Haseeb, a resident of Hardoi with a dangerous criminal past, including a prior rape conviction dating back to 2014. Deputy Commissioner of Police (West Lucknow) Kamlesh Dixit reported that when a police team closed in to arrest the suspect, Haseeb opened fire on the officers. Law enforcement personnel returned fire in self-defense, wounding the accused in the leg before taking him into custody. The injured assailant was hospitalized under police guard, and authorities are conducting a deeper investigation into his full criminal background and recent movements.
