A severe family dispute over the arrangements for a deceased mother’s Brahm Bhoj (post-funeral community feast) escalated into a tragedy in the Pipraich area of Gorakhpur, resulting in a man shooting his younger brother dead. The victim, identified as 23-year-old Satyaprakash alias Shubham Sharma, sustained a critical bullet wound to the chest. He was rushed by family members to the Nehru Hospital at BRD Medical College, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

The fatal confrontation arose from bubbling tensions regarding how the final religious rites should be handled:

While the youngest brother, Shubham, and another sibling wanted to host a unified, joint ceremony, the eldest brother, Durgvijay, favored holding separate events.
- Escalation of the Altercation: The friction intensified when the wife of the accused, 40-year-old Durgvijay Sharma, arrived at the venue and engaged in a bitter verbal argument with Shubham. Seeing the confrontation, Durgvijay allegedly lost his temper completely, pulled out an unlicensed country-made pistol, and shot his younger brother at close range before fleeing.
