Trump Declares Netanyahu Has “No Choice” but to Accept US-Iran Deal
WASHINGTON / TEL AVIV — US President Donald Trump stated that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will have “no choice” but to accept any diplomatic agreement Washington negotiates with Tehran. In a telephone interview with the Financial Times, Trump asserted his absolute control over American foreign policy, stating, “I call the shots. He doesn’t call the shots.” Trump’s remarks came immediately after a phone call in which he successfully urged Netanyahu to delay retaliating against a fresh barrage of Iranian ballistic missiles, which had targeted northern Israel following an Israeli airstrike in Beirut. Trump emphasized that the missile strikes would have no impact on the ongoing, high-level US-Iran negotiations, warning that a collapse of the talks would leave Washington with only two options: launching a direct military operation or tightening the devastating naval blockade on Iran.
