Goa Becomes Fastest-Growing Engineering Export Hub in Western Region
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant attended the 42nd Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC) India Western Region Export Awards ceremony in Bambolim, organized under the aegis of the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Addressing a distinguished gathering of exporters, industrial leaders, and trade officials, the Chief Minister proudly highlighted Goa’s stellar trade trajectory, revealing that the state’s engineering exports surged by an impressive 36%—growing from $405.8 million to $550.6 million in the 2025–26 fiscal year. This remarkable growth far outpaces the national annual export expansion rate of 5% and the broader western region’s average of 11%, cementing Goa’s position as the fastest-growing engineering export state in the zone.
During his address, Chief Minister Sawant emphasized that the coastal state is rapidly transitioning into a major hub for knowledge-based and environment-friendly industries, capitalizing on its highly skilled workforce and specialized skilling institutes. Recognizing that nearly 60% of EEPC members operate within the MSME sector, Sawant reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to fostering small businesses through investor-friendly policies, accelerated single-window clearances, upgraded warehousing, and robust logistical corridors. Accompanied by former Union Commerce Minister Suresh Prabhu and senior ministry officials, the event also highlighted India’s record national engineering export milestone of $122.43 billion, celebrating the resilience of regional manufacturers amidst complex global supply chain disruptions.
